Ephemerals

This series is an exploration of transience and vernal beauty. It began in early April, after a winter of grief. Spring ephemeral wildflowers occupy a short yet glorious interval, blooming and setting seed during a small window of time between snowmelt and when the trees leaf-out. Their brief presence in the woodland is connected to the lives of numerous other members of the forest community, all participating in beneficial exchanges at a critical intersection in their lives.

In memory of John Morris, Francesca Morris and Marco Dees. Special thanks to Dawn at WildThings Rescue Nursury for allowing me to borrow from her incredible collection of native woodland plants.
